Every webmaster these days should be aware of the latest google search engine algorithm updates – dubbed ‘google penguin’. Penguin 2.0 has recently been rolled out and over the last 18 months or so, many websites have been adversely affected by the penguin series of updates. 

With the penguin updates, google have been seeking to eliminate spammy and low quality sites. Very often, low quality sites have poor quality backlinks, so these updates have resulted in an unprecedented focus on backlink quality. Avoid links from poor quality websites and make sure that your anchor text is varied with a low percentage of keyword anchor text links 20 – 30% to be as safe as possible .
